Nature Walk at Jacob Ballas Children’s Garden

On 18th June, 2011, Pek Kio Community Centre organized a Nature Walk aimed at young children & families. It was held at the Jacob Ballas Children’s Garden at the Botanical
Gardens from 9-12pm.

The weather was cool & excellent as the participants took a leisurely walk through the garden guided by our very own Ms Sabaria. This was then followed by some ice breaking games, colouring contest, sing –a –long session, exploration around the lake and concluded with water play.

On the whole, it was an enjoyable trip both for the children & adult.

Project E.A.R.T.H. Recycling Drive IV

Our very 4th GO-Green Project E.A.R.T.H (Every Act of Recycling Trash Helps) was held on 24 April 2011 from 11am – 1 pm. We had collected close to 400KG of recycables. We are seeing an improvement in the receptive of residents and they go all out to help us bring down items to exchange although the food items werent so attractive!

Support us and do your part to save the environment by bring down unwanted CLEAN recycables down in exchange for food items!

Nature Walk @ Kampong Java Park

On 12 March 2011, Pek Kio Community Centre’s CCMC & YEC, jointly organized a children’s nature walk. The objective of the walk was to bring children closer to nature, educate them on the various fauna & flora in the neighbourhood and also to foster better family ties through nature. Despite the hot weather, the children & the parents greatly enjoyed the walk from Pek Kio CC to Kampong Java Park.

At Kampong Java park, the children had a wonderful time, feeding the turtles & fish in the pond, treasure hunting, listening to a story and having a picnic.

The highlight of the day was when the children found a little white kitten along a pavement and one of the boys adopted it.

On the whole, it was a successful event & there will be more such nature related events in future!

Moulmein Lunar New Year Dinner

Children’s Christmas Party 2010

We organised a Children’s Christmas Pary forthis xmas on Sunday, 17 December 2010 from 7pm to 9.30pm.

It was a small and cosy party where we played mass games, had best-dressed competition, magic show and ended off with a surprise visit from Santa Claus! The childen enjoyed themselves thoroughly!

Project E.A.R.T.H. Recycling Drive III

Our 3rd GO-Green Project E.A.R.T.H (Every Act of Recycling Trash Helps) was held on 30 January 2011 from 10am – 1 pm. It is a joint project with Kent Ville RC and NEA (National Environmental Association). It was held alongside the monthly clap program at the Cambridge food market.

The response was overwhelming as residents cleared their homes to usher in the Lunar New Year!
