On 12 March 2011, Pek Kio Community Centre’s CCMC & YEC, jointly organized a children’s nature walk. The objective of the walk was to bring children closer to nature, educate them on the various fauna & flora in the neighbourhood and also to foster better family ties through nature. Despite the hot weather, the children & the parents greatly enjoyed the walk from Pek Kio CC to Kampong Java Park.
At Kampong Java park, the children had a wonderful time, feeding the turtles & fish in the pond, treasure hunting, listening to a story and having a picnic.
The highlight of the day was when the children found a little white kitten along a pavement and one of the boys adopted it.
On the whole, it was a successful event & there will be more such nature related events in future!
